New York Improves to 27-16, Breaking their Four-Game Skid
BALTIMORE, MD — Boy did the Yankees need that. The Yankees won 6-2 over the Orioles at Camden Yards. They improve to 27-16, and snap their four-game losing streak. They did it on power and good starting pitching from Will Warren.
Pitching Spotlight
Warren was really effective today. He struck out six over 5.2 innings giving up two runs. The Yankees committed two errors behind him, and another scored a fielders choice. That prevented him from going deeper into the game. His overall stuff was good and he looked in control for most of the outing.
This was particularly noticeable in the third inning when the Orioles loaded the bases with no outs after a leadoff walk and two errors. Warren educed a shallow fly ball to Judge, not deep enough to score the run and a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning and keep the Orioles off the board. In past years, Warren might have melted down in that spot, but not tonight where he kept the Yankees lead.
Hitting Spotlight
The third inning was successful for the Yankees. They loaded the bases with only one out for Cody Bellinger. Bellinger struggles on the road compared to how he hits at Yankee Stadium, but he still puts the ball in play. He beat out a double play for an RBI groundout. That opened the floodgates for an Amed Rosario RBI single and a Trent Grisham three-run homer to break the game open a bit and give Warren some breathing room.

The Yankees placed INF Jose Caballero on the 10-day IL with a “Right Middle Finger Fracture”. More on that and the Anthony Volpe roster move below:
What’s Next
The Yankees and Orioles will have the rubber game of the three-game series. The Yankees will send out their ace, Max Fried against the Orioles Kyle Bradish. Due to inclement weather, the game was moved up to a 1:05pm start at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The game will be on Amazon Prime Video and WFAN.
